Renting or buying a photobooth: what to choose?

Renting or buying a photobooth: what to choose?

Are you hesitating between renting a photobooth for your event or buying one? It all depends on your goal. Here is how to decide simply.

Rental: for a one-off event

If you are organising a wedding, a birthday or a corporate party, renting is the obvious solution. For a modest sum (from €100), you enjoy a professional booth for the duration of your event, without worrying about maintenance, storage or equipment. It is the common-sense choice for a single or occasional need.

Buying: to launch a business

Buying a photobooth makes sense if you want to turn it into a source of income: freelancer, event agency, DJ, photographer or reception venue. A professional booth then becomes an investment that pays off over a few bookings.

The profitability question

A photobooth rental is generally billed between €150 and €350 per booking. With a booth bought for a few thousand euros, a few rental weekends are often enough to cover the investment. Beyond that, each booking becomes profit — hence the value of buying for a regular business.

And support?

Buying a booth is not something you improvise: training in its use, getting to grips with the software, managing consumables. A local manufacturer who trains you and stays reachable makes all the difference compared to an imported booth with no follow-up.
